‘Mother’ is a portrait of Tamika and her son. Tamika, a proud Aboriginal, Torres Strait and South Sea Islander, is passionate about creating a movement for social change, challenging injustice on climate change and racial equality. She is dedicated to raising her son to be proud of his heritage and culture. Filled with emotional resonance, I painted this portrait as a visual representation of the unbreakable bond between mother and child. I wanted to draw attention to this sacred moment, honouring the invaluable wisdom and resilience embodied by mothers, particularly in nurturing their children's self-confidence and identity. These standard frame sized fine art prints are created on archival art paper and printed with colourfast inks to last years.
