FAQ

Here are a few of the most common questions I get asked.

If you have any other questions or enquires, I would love to hear from you at hello@rachellekavanagh.com or through my contact page.

Why are prints cheaper than originals?

The major difference between original art and prints is that my original art is the one and only real thing. It has been loved and doted on by me. I have spent hours in its company stroking my brush across it’s surface, gazing at it and giving it life. You can see and feel the texture of the brush strokes and see the layers in the paint in a way that you cannot in a print. You are the exclusive owner of this original artwork, no one else has that same piece. There may be only one of each original I create.

My art is not just a piece to pull a room together, it adds value to your life and to those entering your home. You receive a piece of my story, an invaluable item to inspire you and bring calm and connectedness everyday.

My art is created with the finest materials. Professional gallery wrapped 100% cotton or linen canvases are used with professional lightfast oil paints that will last hundreds of years. My art is an investment that can be handed down from one generation to another appreciating in value as time goes on, like a Stradivarius violin or a fine wine.

How do I frame my artwork?

If you are ordering an artwork on paper or unstretched canvas, I recommend getting it framed as soon as possible, within the first month of receiving your piece. This will prevent the dog eating it, small children colouring it in or even just damage from it laying around and building up dust. You have invested in a valuable piece of art that, if treated kindly, will last generations.

Framing is a very personal choice. You may want to take the artwork to a local framing store and work with a consultant to custom make your dream frame, or you could buy a ready made frame from them. You can also buy ready made frames from various home ware stores.

My oil paintings generally come on a stretched, gallery wrapped canvas that can be hung as is. After you receive your canvas, you may choose to get a float frame for it. These can be purchased at a framing store.

Can you create an artwork for me? (Commissions)

Yes, you can commission me to create an artwork that you have in mind. At the moment, I book a maximum of one commission per month. You can commission a work in charcoal, coloured pencil or oil paint, in my style. I create custom portrait, landscape and pet artworks from a photograph you provide. In this process, I work with you to see your vision and create an artwork in my style that meets that vision. For more information on my commission service click below.

Can I pick up my artwork from your studio to save on postage?

Yes, no problem at all, In fact I encourage you to pick up your artwork in person, especially if it is an original artwork. If you are able to pickup your piece from my studio in Sippy Downs, Queensland, use the code “StudioPickup” at checkout and skip the shipping costs. We will coordinate a pickup time that suits, via email. You can contact me to set a time at hello@rachellekavanagh.com.

What is your returns policy?

My goal is for you to have a smooth and exciting experience and feel absolutely over-the-moon when you receive your artwork. I handle every artwork with the utmost of care. Please read my return policy here to learn more about the process.
